PURPOSE OF THE JOB
- Assist the Validation Team Leader and the HAN program manager to evaluate and test HANs including interoperability testing of 3rd party components.

Itron, Inc. has an immediate opening for an Associate RF Design Engineer at its West Union, SC facility. The candidate will be responsible for some and involved in all phases of RF transceiver design including technical analysis of product requirements, recommendation of design alternatives, functional specifications, schematic design, PCB layout, hardware debug, hardware verification testing and release to manufacturing.
Major Responsibilities/Duties:
- Review requirement specifications and help in defining Functional Specifications
- Involved in RF circuit design from concept to production for low cost wireless communications product-line, including RF filters and matching, synthesizers, VCO's, power amplifiers, low noise amplifiers and integrated circuit transceivers
- Conduct RF circuit measurements using laboratory spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, etc.
- Use RF Simulation tools for building blocks of the radio design
- Participate in field studies and system test activities
- Design Validation through creation of critical test matrices.
- Work with manufacturing in defining the tests and fixtures needed for programming and functional verification and final tests.

Itron, Inc. has an immediate opening for an SQA Engineer that can debug software products through the use of systematic tests to develop, apply, and maintain quality standards for company products. Develops, modifies, and executes software test plans. Analyzes and writes test standards and procedures. Maintains documentation of test results to assist in debugging and modification of software. Analyzes test results to ensure existing functionality and recommends corrective action. Consults with development engineers in resolution of problems. Provides feedback in preparation of technical appraisals of programming languages, systems, and computation software. Ensures quality computer integration into the overall functions of scientific computation, data acquisition, and processing.
- Assist with the development and execution software test plans, test designs, test objectives, and test cases.
- Identify, analyze and document defects, questionable behavior, errors and inconsistencies with application functionality, output, online screens and content.
- Assist with the development automated test solutions using state-of-the-art software testing tools and practices.
- Work with software development engineers in product design, code reviews, walkthroughs and product lifecycle inspections.

Description

Itron is looking for a Principal Systems Architect to work in our fast paced development department requiring agile thinking, deep development experience, large system design experience, quick problem comprehension and excellent communications skills. The primary focus of this role will be to lead the design of Itron products to manage, monitor and configure remote devices over wireless networks, which include such components as hardware, firmware, software and networks.

The Principal Systems Architect will design and build solutions, mentor, and work closely with the team to ensure functional, performance, availability, and stability requirements of the solution are met. The Principal Architect will also provide technical expertise to the professional services teams as it pertains to the implementation of Itron products. Additionally this person may provide follow-up support to company product marketing teams and customer personnel by disseminating technical information for specific Itron products and ensures that the solution is functioning according to specifications.
Our goal is to find a Principal Architect with enough ambition to learn quickly and become an important part of our Engineering team.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Designs complex systems/solutions to meet product specifications.
- Analyzes user requirements, procedures, and problems to improve Itron products to meet the product roadmaps and requirements.
- Follow and drive the Itron Engineering processes and methodologies.
- Ideal candidate should have good knowledge of complex systems/solutions to design frameworks, processes, generate valid requirements to meet product specifications.
- Acts as an advisor and proposes changes based on analysis of requirements and new technology.
- Design and drives the solutions to ensure compatibility with Itron products and other applications to solve customer business needs.
- Ensure Itron solutions meet the quality, performance, scale and security standards demanded by smart grid Industry.
- Provides technical direction and design approval for Itron solutions.

Required Skills/Experience:

This position requires a minimum of 8 years of total experience in design and development, but most recently focused on the architectural design of enterprise scalable applications and embedded devices. Must have strong relational database and experience using programming languages such as Java, C#, C++, and C. Experience with design and development Methodologies and processes, excellent verbal and written communications are required. This position requires experience designing complex systems/solutions comprised of hardware, firmware, software and networks. It also requires extensive wireless networking knowledge including cellular, ZigBee, and WiFi.

- Responsible for product management of the OpenWay Collection Engine product as the AMI Headend within the North American market.
- Develops product roadmap and product requirements specifications, based on analysis of market & business needs.
- Develops materials to enhance or distinguish product positioning in the marketplace.
- Be part of a global team with a focus on the North American market. Works with engineering, marketing and sales to develop new products or enhance existing products.
- Monitors competitive activity and market research, identifies customer needs.
- Reviews and updates the business model and pricing strategies.
- Located in Raleigh, NC with approx 50% travel expected.
- Work closely with customers, sales and marketing to define product requirements for new software and enhancements to existing software products.

- Work closely with engineering during product design, development, testing, and project management.
- Monitor product development progress to ensure it meets time to market.
